Doing an MBA - Discussion

1. Write on the board:

Is it a good idea to do an MBA?

To help stimulate the discussion, offer these advantages and disadvantages:

 

Advantages:

• higher salary

• access to top management posts

Disadvantages:

• very expensive

• many successful entrepreneurs don’t have one!

 

2. Ask students to add to the list.

 

3. Next, mix pairs or groups and follow up with the discussion on the questions below:

  • What qualifications are the most valued in your field or area of work?
  • Does it make a difference which school or university you get these qualifications from?
  • What are the top most reputable educational institutions that offer these qualifications?
